For private parties and corporate events looking for entertaining options, we provide a variety of fun approaches for murder mystery dinners across Asia for various groups and gatherings. We have choices that range from using participants in the show to strictly using our actors. Below you will find some of our more frequently asked questions.
The classic format for very large groups with all kinds of added elements. This includes shows for charities as part of our Justifiable Homicide program and are catered to high society. These meet even the most particular of guests from royalty to CEOs.
The industry standard bring 4-7 actors interacting with your crowd leading up to the crime and a comedic investigation. Meet and talk with the crazy cast of characters, witness a crime and then work together to solve it!
We create a scenario where the audience is unaware that a mystery show is taking place. Up until the crime is committed, they think it is really happening. They are immersed in the story and relieved with the revelation that it is a show!
Our unique product of the Cambridge Solution leads the way for getting your audience to mix and mingle and work together to find solutions. With many fun themes and our Director working behind the scenes to keep people engaged and adapting the story along the way, it is truly Harvard Smart!
What about Covid? We operate per local law and your desire. While we can be in person as before, we have a variety of techniques that we can use to promote social distancing and safety during our shows. We can discuss these items with you and develop a strategy to work at your location in a relatively safe environment.
Generally, when someone refers to a show being interactive, it means that the performers will talk to the audience, either to get input or a reaction. An immersive performance is where our actors fully participate in the audience experience and can be mistaken as audience members. Some audience members can also be confused with performers. This immersive experience enhances the entire event and increases the involvement of the audience members to the point of maintaining full attention. We usually operate where we do both at the same time. It can be confusing.
Smaller groups can get cost-prohibitive for murder mysteries, but we may still be able to help. We have worked for groups of 8 and over 800. The problem is that a group of 8 is not that much less expensive than one of 25 or more. This means that the cost per person can be quite high. Then again, the Return On Investment (ROI) can be quite high as well! This can make a show quite worth it. Or, let's be honest, some people have the money and it is worth it for them.
We can do this like a play, but generally it is more interactive and immersive. if you rather have the audience be passive participants, simply ask and we can discuss options. Such mysteries can be used to teach dogma, etc.
We have a variety of offerings that specifically do that. Our larger events tend to only use our actors with some of your people participating as non-specific characters. When we do use them as characters, it is usually limited in some way, though we are open to ideas. Our customer is always right.
We can go just about anywhere provided the right resources. We haven't done one while scuba diving yet, but it is only a matter of time.
The ambush is an approach where the audience is unaware that a murder mystery is occurring. We create a situation where our players would reasonably be expected to be in the location. After establishing the legitimacy of our characters, we then create situations that would rarely happen at parties. These are often done to test the morals of audience members or event to teach desired behavior.
What about themes? We have many themes and can customize to just about any other that you can think of. Some of the more common themes include: The 1920's or 1930's for a Prohibition Era party, A Millionaire's Mansion, A Movie Mogul, Mobsters, A Wedding and many others. We have conducted murder mystery dinner shows with everything from the Versace Mansion to Gilligan's Island. If you want to have a particular theme, just let us know!
We are definitely NOT near you. However, yes, we can! Besides the relationships that we have with performers world-wide, we have virtual options and in-person options for bringing our best and brightest to you! It is expensive. If this does not bring you the value you need, then please DO NOT proceed. We only serve our clients. If it costs too much, we are not really serving your needs.
Because every show is custom designed you have to contact us directly to receive a quote. Prices range based on the costs for us to produce the show. The more actors, the more props, the larger the event, the more the writing or rehearsal, the greater the travel, the more difficult the date, the higher the cost. When we provide a quote, the prices are usually independent of venue, food and technical equipment such as lights and sound. Contact us for a detailed quote and let us know your preferred currency for that quote.
Even though we call them dinners, the reality is that a lot of our events take place during the day. Lunch is quite common and it operates basically the same, though often there is no social hour. It can be a great idea to entertain your employees without keeping them after hours. Likewise, an ambush at lunch works well with our people to look like a regular team building group or lecturer. Contact us to find ideas that might work for your group based on your timing.
Generally no, but we work based on our direction from our clients. Based on the desires of the client, we may have gunshots (blanks, of course), stabbings, etc. All such things are usually done to comedic effect and may require authorization of the venue and appropriate security staffs as well as to abide by any local laws. We would likely inform law enforcement beforehand. Likewise, the Client must indemnify us and indicate to potential guests with any conditions the inherent issues or concerns. If you are the one hiring us for a private party or corporate event, then whether there are gunshots is up to you. But as mentioned, we'd recommend not to have them.
We can accept most forms of payment and in various currencies including checks, credit cards, Wire Transfers, ACH, cash, Zelle, PayPal, Venmo, CashApp and just about anything else. We do not use Blockchain items such as Bitcoin. Everything must be traceable and we report all income to the correct governmental agencies. If we get charged, you get charged. So credit cards have a 3.5% fee associated with it. Likewise, other payment methods where we get charged, such as setting up Venmo as a product purchase, will require an additional fee. We do this to keep our costs down and we rather you pay using methods where there is not a fee. Usually we require 50% up front with a follow-up of the final 50% 15 days prior to the event. Our end currencies will most likely be the US Dollar, followed by the Canadian Dollar, the Euro, and British Pounds.
While our initial conversations will likely be in English, we have the capacity for shows that are bilingual or in specific other languages. Whether in Japanese, Chinese, Indian, Turkish, Hebrew, Arabic, German, Italian, Chinese, Russian, or any other language, ask us how we might be able to serve your group entertainment needs. Of course, some languages may be more difficult and may cost more.

The countries of Southeast Asia, including Indonesia in Jakarta, Vietnam, Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur, Thailand in Bangkok, Singapore, Brunai, and The Philippines, are filled with wonderful destinations for meetings & incentives events and hard-working people looking for opportunities.
India is a powerhouse that is on the move. Not only have they renamed Bombay to Mumbai, Madras to Chennai, and Bangalore to Bengaluru, Delhi dropped the New and Hyderabad has emerged as a major center for tech companies to operate.
America has long had a close relationship with the southern half of the peninsula. We work with the US military bases as well as multi-national companies to enhance their relationships and improve morale.
The companies that operate on the island are given to more stress due to the precarious nature of international tensions. Having a bit of escapist fun in Taipei or elsewhere can relieve that tension and allow the employees to concentrate on other things.
The first step is to determine your needs. This includes potential goals, desires and concerns. Is it more than just entertainment? If you are looking to show appreciation to clients or employees, for example, then we would take one approach. If it is family and friends, we might approach it differently. The more we know about what has already been decided can allow us to narrow the conversation to approaches that interest you.
We need to know the city where the event will be as well as what kind of venue might be used, which can let us determine cost issues as well as legal hurdles that might be required. A date, or date range, for when you would like to have this and what time frame you are looking for will help to determine our commitment and availability. Knowing the size of your group, though that will likely just be an estimate, will allow us to choose appropriate options for the performance and have a better feel for the resources required. Knowing who might attend can impact language and content.
Let us be honest. Operating in Asia is not inexpensive. In fact, it can be quite costly. If you know budget limitations, that can allow us to restrict the conversations to those options that will be within your financial constraints. This works in both directions. We don't want to overbuild and propose options that can't be done. Also, we don't want to try to operate at the lowest cost possible and not provide options to achieve the results that will exceed your requirements and expectations.
